Lisa is a Minnesota native. During her early childhood she was raised in Forest Lake but spent her teens living in Moorhead and attending Shanley High School in Fargo, North Dakota. Lisa attended the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1993. She served two clerkships after that, first at the Michigan Court of Appeals in 1994 and then at the Minnesota Court of Appeals in 1995.

Since then, Lisa has been fighting to defend the rights of those accused of crimes. She has worked extensively with Twin Cities attorneys Joe Friedberg, Earl Gray, Doug Thomson, Deb Ellis, Dave Ayers, Mike Friedberg, David Valentini and Charles Hawkins. Lisa has worked on criminal matters for clients such as Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper and Moe Williams; in addition, Lisa has accepted appointment to represent indigent defendants at trial and on appeal. She works on criminal cases that vary from routine alcohol-related driving offenses to first degree murder.
